Every day one gets information from somewhere. Too often, we accept what we hear is a bent version of the truth or a complete fallacy. One result of this book is to question the information presented to the world and who presents it. Ultimately, we all want to know the truth. The only way to do this is with reasonable questioning and debate. In this case, Levitt and Dubner will be successful because reading this book has encouraged me personally to be more skeptical of conventional wisdom.

Purpose of Freakonomics
The reason Levitt and Dubner wrote Freakonomics wasn't to explore random topics that somehow relate to each other. It also wasn't to feed one's curiosity, even though it my have. The purpose instead was to change the way one thinks about the information that is presented to them.

Mike, I agree with you. At the end of Freakonomics I had many questions about how the world works. Freakonomics gave me a differant outlook on our society and stereotypes that we have.
