1) I believe that Gladwell's purpose for writing Outliers was to provide people with a new perspective of looking at things differently. For example, one would assume that hockey players on a professional team got there through pure talent. However, Gladwell shows us that there are other factors that play a role besides what appears at first glance. The month one was born in, how motivated one is, as well as many other factors play a role as well. Overall, Gladwell's purpose for writing Outliers, in my opinion, was to show the reader that not everything is what first meets the eye.
2) My question for the class is can anyone find any similarities between Outliers and Dark Tide?
I agree that Gladwell's purpose was to show a hidden side to success. Do you think he was able to successfully convey his ideas to his readers?
